they thought that
they'd win the  Cup.

But six in defense
to stay in the lead
didn't make sense.

Hence,
a 2-1 defeat
was the consequence.

Better that way than the extra time and penalties that usually beat them. No point prolonging the agony.

Will we see Italy in 2030? I miss them when they're not there.

That's the way the cookie crumbles, as the saying goes

Italy has now failed to qualify three times in a row, despite having won the trophy four times. Will they have another chance?

I have a friend in Sicily who was horrified the first time Italy didn't qualify for the World Cup.

He said, 'A World Cup without Italy is like a World War without Germany'.

He seems to be getting used to it now though.
