Imagine if we couldn’t know
the football scores for days and days,
or how wars far off cease or grow
‘til someone ride by hazardous ways
to file report in newspaper read
– we would have time to think, instead
of beng engulfed by so much news
we haven’t time to form our views,
and shoot opinion before we’ve heard
all the factors, our anger stirred,
exacerbate feuds, we judge,
and though mistaken, refuse to budge …

This has a nice flow to it
This has a nice flow to it Rhiannon. You'd have to go a long long way back for news to travel by horse!

I like specially "how wars
I like specially "how wars far off cease or grow".
My son told me yesterday about news from Lebanon which had been banned in the UK and America! I find this very worrying - how can one form a true opinion if not allowed all the facts? People should not need a vpn (Goodness knows what that is!) So it's not just about what we are told, but what we are NOT told which shapes understanding. In some way, what with fake news and even deep fakes, where voices and video are manipulated, I wonder if we are worse off than long ago, when people relied on many times passed along eye witness accounts, which must at least have started off as true! So much rumour and misunderstanding when it comes to voting, too, and it's so important
Your poem is very relevant, as well as being fun to read!
