Consequences

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series] 

Consequences can come quickly,
or may lurk and linger long;
What you sow you will be reaping
– may bring joy, or sadness, weeping.

We can sow to fleshly lust –
selfish greed, deceit unjust,
or can sow in love, though losing,
forfeit comfort, present blessing.

God knows all observes all goings,
understands our thoughts and doings,
can forgive, grief mitigate,
as we heavenly harvest wait.
