This is one of the first short stories I ever wrote - about 30 years ago. It's based on my own childhood experiences, growing up on a high-rise estate in South London in the '70s.

It reminded me of years gone by, when I had a huge collection of pencils and notepads - and used them! Not used a pencil in ages. Perhaps it's good to get back to basics.
I never really understood the HB, 4B, 2B stuff, mind.
