I see what you mean and you could leave it out, but I like the mixture of humour/pathos it adds. I find it so hard coming back to writing poetry after a long break, so hats off to you for writing something so good.

I always thought as I got older, I would become more right wing than my socialist early self, but that's like saying the older you get, the more of an uncaring, stupid cunt you become. I am at a loss to understand why people vote the way they do...
