I am a Brummie living in North Somerset who loves to write but gets distracted with other things. I enjoy horror/fantasy and anything that provokes original thought.

My literary heroes are Clive Barker, Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe and HP Lovecraft.

Everyone should read George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-four .

I have work published by AlienBuddha Press, Loft Books, BlackBough Poems, DarkWinter Literary Magazine and Paragraph Planet.

I guess with the oppressive regime in Afghanistan and the anti-abortion lobby in the US scorching the earth it's exceptionally tough for women in parts of the world. The word 'freedom' has never had more relevance. Well said, Maxine.

'All of them I said..." Well, yes!

That's a wonderfully beguiling poem

Not sure I've ever been to Sheffield. It sounds like most cities. When I go back to Birmingham the centre has changed again with a never ending 'road improvement scheme'.

Maybe Di's right....a metaphor for life :)

"What began it, or what atavistic

thing we are atoning for forever, unknown."

I had to look up 'atavistic'.

Love this poem. So evocative with sound echoes from history.

This flows better than the version posted last year (I've just re-read it) so well done on this revision. Your poem captures the essense of this time of year including its religious connotations and associations.

I feel like I need to see Bow-Fiddle Rock now.

That's a charming tale well told with its Hallowe’en trickster-dixstering.

Really enjoyed this.

Happy Halloween!

I like the pervasiveness of magic throughout and how its significance is offset against the importance of human emotions and feelings. Magic isn't all-encompassing and the plot emphasises that through the interaction of your characters. It's a...

"Dark days, wet days, grey days,
downpour-drenching.."

I like the juxtaposition of dark days and bright days. This poem is awash with colour and sound. Fitting for that most wonderful of seasons - autumn!

Lovely stuff,...
