This is so lovely, Jenny. It really struck a chord with me. I've never been much of a one for gardening - and now don't have a garden anyway - but the sentiment is so applicable to many aspects of life. I'm having one of those periods of writer's...
A piece of beauty in the midst of all the stuff clanging in our ears and eyes. In the street I lived in before we had an urban fox who trotted around at night as though he/she owned the place, which was lovely, except when they raided the bins....
This is really great, flowing and easy to read, but so thoughtful and full of insight. It's quite true, the children who never made it are always with us. I am so looking forward to the next part of this!
I'm not unaffected by such deaths, more angry and exasperated and desperately sorry for those who loved them. People have always done dangerous and downright stupid things, cocooned in a belief in their own invincibility. It's desperately sad.
Lovely, Jenny, brought back my own happy memories of childhood holidays at the Cornish coast. 'Youth is a snapshot restored' - what a wonderful way of putting it.
