From the beautifully crafted words of your poem I get the impression that there's a lot going on in your bed, Jenny, so I'm not surprised you can't sleep.

A very enjoyable read indeed.

Good stuff! Your poem made me smile.

And it reminded me a bit of ...

Now Ernie loved a widow
A lady known as Sue
She lived all alone in Linley Lane
At number twenty two
They said she was too good for him

These are terrible, terrible times Ralph. I've tried writing about this horrific situation myself but I can't find the words to describe the horror and dread that I feel inside.

The last two lines of your poem are perfect.

Well done...

This is a gorgeous poem

This is a gorgeous poem Socialeaf. It brings back memories of similar experiences with my own kids and my own parents.

If I were to write my version it would include the words tears, clinging and worry. Yours is much nicer.

Nice poem! Nice story!

But did his uncle always carry a screwdriver in his pocket? It sounds to me like it may have been a bit uncomfortable.

There are many people, organisations, places, etc who will offer peace and serenity and enlightenment, and good on them. Each to their own is my philosophy. But I find that nothing in this world brings me the contentedness that I need more than...

Lovely words Jenny.

Lovely words Jenny.

They make me think of our dog, Snezhinka. We rescued her from the street when she was a pup so she's still a bit wild, spending a lot of time alone in the forest. I'm sure she has delusions of grandeur.

Don't let go of that flimsy

Don't let go of that flimsy branch Jenny. A bit of mulch round your roots and a mild winter and you'll be grand, I'm sure.

I completely agree with what's been said here about escapism. Reading the words of others and writing my own takes...

Great story! I enjoyed this..

Great story! I enjoyed this... both parts. But I'm worried that if there is a part three it might be set in a JML women's refuge.

Vanessa should make him listen to 'The Gift', the song by the Velvet Underground. That would make him think...
