two's company and three's a crowd springs to mind as I read. Spencer's got his way as far as letting Cedric be a guest, but for how long! I wonder with jealousy creeping in over the cooking.
Cedric seems like a helpful character, though I must admit I'd still want to be careful around him and can quite understand why Vanessa would want a lock on the bedroom door.

Aefelthrith would be helpless without Gwladys. She's definitely not cut out to live from hand to mouth.
