Danella, the Priestess of Pirion, in the land of her people's conquerors, finds out more about the web of relationships amongst the group of new friends Mireau has introduced her to. She provokes them with her questioning and offers them the prospect of possible adventures. This is set in an alternative world, not dissimilar to our own.

King Croesian is reminded, by High Priestess Patience, of his first wife, as she too seeks to do good in the world. The King's Cheif Minister becomes closer to the High Priestess. Soon she becomes a focus of the Court's attention. This story was set 1,000 years before the events in 'Life and Times of a Priestess', before the Empire of the Goddess came into existance.
