Agree with insert.. here. Pared down style works as there is no need to dress up this subject matter. It all still remains incomprehensible to me. I went to a holding camp in Prague and saw pictures drawn by children of smiling Nazi guards.

I enjoyed the symbolism here. A wall's a big thing and between the 'gathering darkness' and the 'inhumanity' your character makes a dent. I also appreciate your lack of adjectives describing the wall. It would have been a bit cheap to try to...
