Winter's Reflections

I met my end one wintry night,
under a tree so tall.
despair and disdain invaded my brain,
and the snow continued to fall.
I rolled my back and held my knees,
my body heat then grew small.
I hold no regrets upon my chest,
and the snow continued to fall.
I closed my eyes for the final time,
the moon and I and all.
I slipped away from mortality,
and the snow continued to fall.
The grim footman came that night,
immediately cursing my gall,
for taking his job and killing myself,
and the snow continued to fall.
