Gorgeous Boy

It has taken far too long
To place pen to paper and describe that which
I feel for you.
Was just that every time pen touched paper
The words splattered as if sourced by gushing tap
And lay in piles of unconnected rhyme.
Like trying to capture Divine spark in simple vessels
The page seemed unable to contain the expressions
I desired so much to tell.

It seemed that my poetry would be restrained
By bitter chains
And never be free to scream the words of love
Except if covered in scars of pain.
Yet last night, as if by dream, this page began itself
For in loving you true freedom comes
There is no restraint, no beginning and certainly no end
I can be both saved and saviour
Dependent and in your need
For in you I am at once completed and also totally begun.

I love you for the spirit that dances behind your eyes
For the open expanses that are your heart, that embrace me
With giant arms.
For the way your mind absorbs the scenery and takes it off to other plains
And for the gentle way you care, and steer me down the better path.
No money would I pay to change a single thing
You are for me the perfection of a dream.

From now to eternity I tie my life to yours
And I promise forever to be in partnership with you,
To lead you to songs and dances in every walk of life
Be they by peaceful streams or stormy waves
To maintain the balance and equality that lies in our united soul
By allowing you to be but you
My love, my life, my world, my dreams.
My future and my hopes lie in your hands
For you are now and always my gorgeous, gorgeous boy.
