I was passing by a trio of woman bent over a buggy clucking and chuckling like hens at a baby clearly enjoying all the attention,
‘ Ahh…Ziya how old is he now? one asked.
‘ Seven months today’ said mum, standing tall and proud.
‘ Ohh, isn’t he handsome!’ added another.
‘ Just look at that cheeky smile’
Warm and snug in a blue balaclava his round face resembled a headlight.
He caught me glancing, an ear to ear grin, bubbling and babbling he beamed me a soft warm pink glow.
Eyes sparkling like multi faceted diamonds, each brief blink, a dipping of a the headlight, then opening again to full beam.
‘…I’m taking him to Jiya’s house to celebrate the Diwali Festival of Light, with a zoom chat to our aunties and cousins in Delhi.
‘ Can we come… all those colourful, lights, lanterns, food and…’
His little face suddenly winced, a grunt, eyes dimming.
‘ I think a nappy change is in order…need to be off, you can come, only if you’ll change all the nappies of around twelve toddlers.
Break lights off…she strode off laughing.
A tall proud mum with a precious jewel added to her crown
