The Visit
The fluttering of fairy wings at her pillow awoke Romy from her sleep, rubbing her eyes she focused on the tiny figure now perched on her duvet. "Hello said the fairy "My name is Flutterbye, what's your name? Romy could hardly believe her eyes but managed to reply to the fairy in a shaky voice "I'm Romy, where have you come from? Flutterbye grinned and fluttered onto Romy's chin "Does that tickle she giggled as she ran up onto her cheek. "Yes-said Romy shaking her head. "Well little girl said Flutterbye, "I'm on holiday from fairyland and as I know you are fond of fairies, I thought I would visit you, are you glad to see me? "Oh yes said Romy, "I love fairies, would you like to play with me?
"What a good idea answered Flutterbye, "What kind of toys have you got, I do hope they are brightly coloured, I love colours. "Well said Romy, "I have got lots of colouring pens and pencils, shall we draw and colour something? "Oh yes please said Flutterbye flying from Romy's chin, across the room and landing daintily on to a pile of books neatly stacked in the bookshelves. "Wow! exclaimed Flutterbye, "What a lot of nice books you have, can we colour in them? "Oh no said Romy climbing from her bed and putting on her slippers, "You can only colour in special books or on paper, it's naughty to colour or draw in some books. "I'll get some paper and draw something for you Flutterbye, what kind of pictures do you like?
Flutterbye leapt from pencil to pencil in delight at the wonderful bright colours. "Oh please, please draw me some stars and a rainbow. Romy took out a clean sheet of paper and began to draw then colour in the patterns of the rainbow. Flutterbye danced around the floor then onto Romy's hand singing sweetly.
"Oh Romy you are so clever, I like to watch you draw with your pencils and your crayons as you sit upon the floor. Flutterbye repeated her song time after time flitting from Romy's hand onto the top of her head and then onto her hand again. Carefully Romy continued to colour in the stars and the rainbow in glorious bright colours.
Meanwhile Flutterbye had begun to fly around Romy's room, it was a lovely pink colour. There were lots of cuddly toys on her bed, which was covered with a bright 'Winnie the Pooh' duvet on it.
Romy called to Flutterbye, "Come and see what I have done, tell me if you like it. Flutterbye landed gently at the side of Romy on the carpet and looked at the picture she had drawn and coloured, it was beautiful. A rainbow stretched all the way across the page and a cluster of stars were at the bottom of it.
"I'll show you some magic with your picture said Flutterbye and waved her wand over the picture. The rainbow jumped from the paper and swept across the room reflecting its multicoloured lights across the room. Then the stars flitted and danced across the ceiling twinkling brightly. Romy and Flutterbye clapped their hands with joy; it was a beautiful scene across the walls and ceiling. After all the excitement Romy started to feel very tired and began to rub her eyes. "I'm so sorry for keeping you awake for so long said Flutterbye, "Perhaps its time I went back to fairyland. "Thank you for visiting me Flutterbye yawned Romy I really am very tired, will you visit again? "Yes I'll come and visit you again in your dreams; perhaps we can do some more colouring. "Bye, bye said Romy creeping into bed and waving tiredly to Flutterbye, "Have a safe journey home. "Goodnight whispered Flutterbye, there was no reply - Romy was fast asleep.
