Cracker Salad

To this day, I believe those quaint elderly sisters where waiting on
me to enter their kitchen before they spring into action. They knew my
greatest weakness. SALTINE CRACKERS.
As I innocently entered their meticulous kitchen to give them each a
kiss and say hello, they immediately sprung into action. No words where
spoken between the two of them. They moved in sync.
The oldest got the box of saltine crackers from its hiding place and a
large bowl. Out of the corner of her eye, she noted that I was trying
not to be too obvious in watching their actions. Especially where they
kept the saltine crackers hidden.
Saltine Crackers! My mouth started to water.
Those sisters were full of secret treasures in their kitchen. I learned
to observe and ask questions later. The younger sister had taken out a
tomato, onion and a jar of miracle whip. She gracefully set those items
on the table.
By now I gave up being coy. It was a game with the sisters and I.
Eagerly, I sat down at the table with them and watched.
Into a large bowl they crushed up the crackers and added the tomatoes
and onions, which they skillfully cut up. Mixed in the miracle whip and
THEY were done!
"Now honey?" They both asked with a knowing twinkle in their eyes, did
you get ALL that?
This time I could answer. "Yes ma'am. Yes I did. I can't botch this
recipe up!"
"Hum." Was their candid response?
