Hammock

Mornings
I sit in the tumble down hammock of
Your love
Sipping lemonade.
You brought it home
White knots of promise
Shirt off, muscles rippling
You nailed the loop into the tree
Banged your thumb
But your curses were sweet.
Three running jumping flying (almost) balls of pure energy later
We all piled onto the white fishnet
Suspended above the ground until
She (or he or she) flips over the side
Pulls us all
Me you daughter son daughter
Me you sister brother sister
To the summer sweet scented green grass.
We brought the car home
Empty gas tank
Empty house
And I lay in the hammock
Tumble down, pillow on nylon
Staring up at the leaves and sun and clouds
The dappled shadows on my skin
And there's you
Shirt on, cool glass, here beside me
On the tumble down hammock of our love.
