No Words Between Them

She sees him walking in front of her and takes a deep breath. "Keep
walking, keep walking," she keeps telling her in her mind. As he turns
the corner she sees him sitting down on a seat. She takes another deep
breath and holds her head high as she walks past him. As soon as she
was past him, her head drops to look at the ground. "God I love him,"
she says to herself. Suddenly she hears footsteps behind her, so she
turns around to see who it is. "Jason," she breathes. "Hope," he
whispers. When he reaches her, he clears his throat and asks, "What -
what do you have next?" Her smile falls as she answers, "Art." "Well,
better let you go," he says reluctantly. "Yeah," she says in reply.
They both just stand there looking at each other in silence until he
clears his throat and mumbles, "I better go." She nods. This time
though, they both turn around and start walking away. After a couple of
steps she stops and turns around to look at his retreating back. She
sighs then turns back around and starts walking. A couple more steps
after he, he also stops and turns around to see her back stiff and
straight. He sighs and turns back around and starts walking. After a
few more steps the footsteps stop and two equal sighs echo in the
hallway. They both turn around at the same time and after a moment's
hesitation, start walking towards each other, their steps getting
quicker and quicker as they got closer and closer. As they reach each
other, she steps into his outstretched arms and lifts her head to look
at him. He lowers his head and sighs as their lips join. The kiss lasts
for what seems like forever. When they finally part, she looks up at
him and starts, "I?" he puts a finger to her lips to silence her. She
nods to show him the she understands. They need no words between them
for they can tell what the other is thinking. But she can't stand it.
She needs to clarify what he is feeling. She needs to reassure him of
what she is feeling. "I love you Jason," she says. "I know Hope," he
replies. "Jason?" she starts. "Shhh," he says. "There will be time for
that later." Then he once again lowers his head to hers in a kiss that
joins two hearts and two souls.
