Pounce

He lifted his weary head. His body was suffering from that 'just
woken up' feeling. To be fair, this was mainly due to having just woken
up.
With a yawn, he managed to stand and made his way out of the
bedroom.
As he walked downstairs, he heard noises from the garden. Together with
the draught, he knew that the back door was open.
Inquisitively, he made his way through the kitchen and stepped outside
to see Mrs Pringle (who had neither seen, nor heard him) hanging out
the laundry.
As he stood there, just in his coat, a small bird landed, not three
feet away. Whilst looking at the tiny thing preen it's feathers, he
noticed how small and defenceless the little sparrow looked.
With that thought in mind, he lurched forward and bit its head clean
off.
Why do cats always do that?
