STEPPING OUT

Sarah glanced across and stole a final look at her image
She pulled the door behind her
Pride emanated from within, confidently striding she boarded her
transport
Yes! She thought tonight she would have a ball.
Journey tinged with great expectation Sarah winced
unable to detract from the nagging doubts spinning &; weaving a
familiar dance
The "roller coaster" ebbing slowly forward pushing, forcing seeking its
space

She entered the finely polished building invitation in hand
Nervously clasping her chest reassured that the necklace dangling
below her neck displayed her VIP status
With fixed smile firmly in place she proceeded
Vibrations from other guests filled the atmosphere
The colours sung Success and the chinking of glasses
set the scene for the rhythm of the night

Smiling nervously hand shaking began the introductions
And hands shaking from feelings within she joined her table
She witnessed "Celebritism" at it's finest
Wasn't that the person reading and making the news simultaneously
She gasped in awe at the array before her
making herself busy enjoying the "snippets" of conversations in the
making
Her heart beating with delight at what she was witnessing
concurrently coloured with a deep sense of displacement she grinned and
nodded
at the appropriate times

Euphoria wrapped itself around her being
as she sensed her moment was at hand
Sheer amazement filled with joy turned to surprise as they
applauded
The Plaudits encompassed the smoke filled room
as she collected her award
She thanked her mother as her greatest inspiration
She sent praises to her Creator
And slipped quietly back to her seat
For a split second she felt Ten feet tall
Gradually she slowly inched back once again
to meet and reside
with her only friend - solitary gloom
