Things I have brought with me

Today, I have brought with me my striped black t-shirt
which is inappropriate for the weather.
I saw the sun shining and was mistakenly transported
to a warm summer's day.
I have also brought with me my old adidas ruck-sack,
which reminds me of my school days.
The one place where I don't want to go.
I can't be bothered to buy something more mature like a suitcase,
as I find them slightly pretentious.
Besides I'm never going to work in the city,
I just couldn't stand the pace!
I have brought with me my purple puzzler pen,
which is falling to pieces.
Yet I like it as it was part of a gift from
my now deceased great aunt Joan.
I can see her now sitting in her favourite armchair,
with her crosswords,
and her kind words.
Trying to do her daily conundrum,
whilst cursing Richard Whiteley's ties.
