The Very Start

You loved us Dad with all your heart,
Right from the very start.
We were wanted,loved and cherished too,
Because if we were"nt that would"nt be you.
You made us laugh,you made us cry,
But we did"nt turn out all that shy.

You gave us values and taught us about life,
And never would you here of us in strife.
For you looked after us the best you could,
We knew you well dad,and knew you would.
You had a heart of 24 caret gold,
Many a people had me told.

You were always there when things got hard,
I know this because you played many a card.
You got extra money when mum would ask,
Mum knew that that you were on a big task.
You would nearly always come back happy,
With money,and sometimes a wee bit snappy.

In front of the fire you would lay,
Some nights there you would stay.
Black pudding,kippers you would eat,
I would watch,looking from my seat.
You would say "hey rob,come over here",
And give me some kippers and a wee sip of beer.

Dad you will always be in my heart,
just like you,it was from the very start.
