Escape to Paradise

Frightful of the great unknown, emptiness, vast oceans
Dire notions,
Aboard the ship, off the coast, near the Keys
On the sea,
The warm sun is touching our skin, sailing away
This new day;
Moving quickly towards the islands, here we are
Beneath stars;
At our first destination, soft, white sands,
Foreign lands,
Crystal clear blue waters and amid green leaves,
Grand palm trees.
Tropical paradise left for now, back aboard,
Get restored;
On ship, we embark to familiar ground
Safe and sound,
But clouds become gray, and send waves thrashing
And crashing;
I am rocked asleep in bed, I dream of when
This again
Will come to be, a moment of time in my life
That lacked strife
And made me whole - friends, sun, beaches, love,
Bliss thereof.
Here at home, two years later, in the cold,
Friends are told,
Of the day when I was swimming with stingrays,
Day by day;
I will never forget the ship that sailed on,
Whereupon
I once retreated, relaxed and undisturbed,
This they heard;
Capture a great moment in time like this,
Reminisce,
Never forget those moments in wonderful years!
Overcome fears.
