Like the rest of my life...

Like a morbid smile, his neck was split
Like the cocoon of a caterpillar
Like the vasts of the desert, his eyes were empty
Like the bottle of booze in my hands
Like a high-priced head doctor, he sat and waited
Like a panther on the hunt
Like the sly fox in the fable, I seduced him
Like the scheming Scarlett O'Hara
Like a little, na?ve child, I ran and ran away
Like the Cowardly Lion
Like a paranoid father on prom night I pace the sidewalk
Like a nervous madman
Like a runaway I pack away my prized possessions
Like my house is on fire
Like a very dead cat I'm still curious
Like a coon
Like a Pilgrim I flee my homeland, fearing persecution
Like a refugee
Like a lonely dejected puppy, I need a hug
Like a fluffy teddy bear
Like a horrible sinner, I lust again
Like a teenaged girl
Like a blind fool, I accept a stranger's help
Like a stupid "from away"
Like a young girl, I fall in love at first sight
Like in the movies
Like a vase on a shaky table, my heart will get broken
Like the rest of my life
