Fallen in love

Someone once said to me,
‘Hello’
In fact,
Quite a few people have said that
But that one person was special
For reasons I’ll never fully know.
But I can always have a go
At explaining them to you.
I think maybe it was her lack
Of ay real smile
As if only a privalaged few
Get to see it once in a while.
Or maybe it was her seductive eyes
That emanated a sense
Of lust that made me stutter
And all my muscles tense.
Maybe it was her hair
In a tightly packed bun
As it to suggest she doesn’t know
How to have fun.
Or perhaps it’s her stare when I
Drifted off in thought
That portrayed a desire
To stab me with a fork.
In either case I pay by card
And left her at the till.
I didn’t get her number
But maybe next time I will.
Picked up my bags, walked away
And I saw her with her pen.
A cleaning girl, mop in hand
And I fell in love again.
Someone once said to me,
‘Hello’
In fact,
Quite a few people have said that
But that one person was special
For reasons I’ll never fully know.
But I can always have a go
At explaining them to you.
