DECEMBER 25th

Mum's in the kitchen
stuffing the turkey.
Dad's on the floor
with my brother, aged four,
And a train set

Sheba, an Alsation cross
(with something leggy),
looking bemused
galumphing in paper strewn,
not yet discarded.

Though time has passed quickly by
I need not close my eyes
to see, this scene and
imagine it had been
only last year.

I'm in the kitchen
