Anyone Out There?

Is God really there,
Does the lord really care when happens to me?
About my pain, the suffering inside,
The agony of this world, my shame, my guilt does God care?
Am I just an actor in a play with a script to read and lines to
learn.
Are we just modern day jesters amusing the king, who doesn't really
care whether we live of die just as long as the show goes on?

Are we alone in this vast cosmos no God no anything,
Just muddling along day by day, not caring who gets in our way,
Who sets my self worth? Society does.
Who maintains morality? The world does,
If there were a God surely that opinion would matter? It would mean
more somehow, you would think?

Just suppose for a moment God exists,
who would he, she, it be
Would God just sit on a cloud and throw thunderbolts,
Would God actually care for us at all?
Would God love us as sons and daughters,
Would God send someone to show us the way wouldn't that be good if that
was true?
But would we listen? Wouldn't we just jeer? Would we insult and hurt
and perhaps even kill this person who loves us?
