Shots in the Dark

Blink and its gone
The world I never knew
A lie from the beginning
Before I understood
I was going blind
Shapes and intuitive knowledge
I've been here before
Girls in skirts
Guys with leather pants
Shots in the dark
My white cane symbolic
A bold statement of inability
Strangers want a detailed history
I give them what they want
A sing-song memorized tragedy
Of what I came here to forget
Time blurs as my body moves
Hips and feet keep the beat
I plant my cane and launch
Propel myself into their sky
Elevated above it all
Strobe lights bounce
Redirect mirrored walls
Man made starlight
Spaced between
The dark form of humanity
I hit the floor
Go down on one knee
My cane scattered
I reach out to connect
With what can only be felt
Shots in the dark
