TOON MOON JUNGLE SCHOOL
The mother's of the TOON MOON JUNGLE were facing a lot of problem with
their young ones. The children had nothing much to do the whole day and
with "all play and no work" they pestered their mothers. They would
trouble their mothers to such an extent that the ladies were unable to
carry on with their chores. So fed-up were they, that the mother's
decided to call a meeting to find out a solution to this.
On a fine morning, under the leadership of Mrs. Rummy Bear, all the
mothers gathered at the 'Bear House'. Mother Horse, Mother Deer, Mother
Pig, Mother Tiger, Mother Monkey, Mother Duck, Mother Hen, and to
mention, mostly all the mothers, sat together, to find out a solution.
They decided to meet the King of the Jungle to find out a solution to
their problem. The majority favoured to meet King Sheru Lion the very
next day itself.
The next day, the Mothers group, reached Sheru's castle. They were
presented before the King with all prestige. Sheru wished them
cordially, and invited them to sit down comfortably. "Hello! Mrs. Polly
Tiger," said Sheru. "I find most of the Ladies of this Jungle have come
to meet me. Do you have any problem? If so, please spell it out." The
King looked at all of them searchingly.
"We do have. We need your help," said Polly Tiger.
"You are free to express," said Sheru.
At this Mrs.Rummy Bear took the leadership and spoke out. She said,
"King Sheru, we are all facing a lot of problem with our children. Our
children have nothing to do the whole day. They pester their mother's
at home; even some of them don't listen to what they are told to do.
There are some children who wander off far away, collect berries from
the bushes and eat them without even knowing whether the berries are
poisonous or not. A few of them go to the Looney River for a swim
although they are not expert swimmers. The other day Young Horsy was
drowning; thanks to his good luck that he was saved by Grunty Pig at
the right moment. Some of them are breaking and tearing things at home.
The small ones want their mothers to tell them stories when their
mother's are engaged in their work. Therefore we have come to you to
find out some means to keep these children engaged during the
day-time."
Sheru Lion sat down quietly for sometime. Then he said, "Give me a
week's time to find out a remedy. Please do meet me after a
week."
There was a chorus of "Thank You" from the Ladies and they went
home.
Sheru Lion felt that the Ladies of the Jungle had put forth something
'Big' before him. He racked his brain. He called for his Minister in
Chief___Roary Tiger, his Docter___Billy Willy Bear, his Advisor___Mungu
Monkey and a few important members. He discussed, about this problem,
with these animals.
Billy Bear suggested, "I think the best thing would be to open a school
for the children."
"It's a good suggestion," said Sheru "but who will be their
teacher."
At this Roary Tiger spoke, "King Sheru, Sly Wly Fox can be their
teacher. He has grown in age and is also the cleverest of all in this
jungle. If we can place all our faith in him and give him the
responsibility, I am sure he will do his job perfectly well. In return,
you will have to make arrangements for his daily meals, as he will be
engaged the whole day."
"A very good suggestion indeed! A very good one, and I do accept it,"
said Sheru very happily.
Sly Wly Fox was called and the whole thing was discussed with him.
Sheru allotted a place to open up the school.
The next week, when the mother's came to meet Sheru, they were told
about the school. All of them were delighted. At last the school
started.
A big area had been cleared up and was the premises of the new School.
An old fallen down tree trunk was used as the teacher's chair while the
students enjoyed their seats on the soft green grass. Teacher Fox
carried a stick with him when he came to school. He had lost a few
teeth, wore a pair of spectacles and walked very slowly. Teacher Fox
had grown old and the stick that he carried was his walking stick,
which helped and supported him. At first the students were frightened
at the sight of the stick for they thought that their teacher would
beat them with it. But, no, Teacher Fox was very clever, cunning, and
was very lenient towards his young students. He was very friendly,
jovial, loved all the children, and this attitude of his won the hearts
of all his students. Soon he came to be known as Teacher Fox in TOON
MOON JUNGLE.
Every morning the children were made to get up early, brush their teeth
have their bath, have breakfast and then get ready to go to school.
They carried their lunch packs. At first some of the children made a
great deal of fuss in going to school. But soon, going to school,
became a habit.
Teacher Fox named the school as 'TOONY SCHOOL'. The children liked the
name of their school. Soon Teacher Fox began to gain the confidence of
his students. The Jungle Children loved their teacher very much. It
took a lot of time for the Jungle Teacher to organise and routine out
the school hours. After, about a month, the daily school routine began
to suit the students perfectly.
Every morning, one would find the children going in groups to TOONY
SCHOOL. At first the children assembled and said their prayers.
Everyday they had Games in their first period. They enjoyed a lot. As
they had school for five days, two days in a week was allotted for
physical exercise and on the other three days they played games. Soon
after the games period, they would settle down to some work. Teacher
Fox told them wonderful stories with morals. These stories helped these
children to know and learn a lot of things. Apart from this they were
taught good manners, good habits, discipline, how to maintain proper
hygiene and of course some learning. They were also given a period for
singing and dance. With everything together, the children loved their
school days very much.
Soon the mother's found changes coming into the lives of their
children. They had cultivated good habits and had become very
disciplined. They maintained proper hygiene so that they did not fall
sick ______ for now they did not like to miss a single school day. They
became more tolerant, more friendly and did not idle away their off
time but spent it in doing something constructive.
By now, the problems of the Mother's began to diminish. All credit went
to Teacher Fox. Days passed off smoothly. The King of the Jungle was
very pleased with the work of Teacher Fox. One day the King called
Teacher Fox to his palace and said, "Sly Wly Fox, I am very pleased
with your work. I want you to organise a function for the school on the
completion of one successful year of its running."
TOONY SCHOOL completed one successful year. Sly Wly Fox organised the
school's Annual Day. A function was held and the students participated
in it. Some students put up dance items, while some sang songs and even
they enacted a play. Prizes were distributed in the different fields
but the prize for the best student of the year went to Tanny Deer. She
was delighted and very happy.
The parents had come for the Annual Day Function. They were very happy
and thanked Sly Wly Fox for his dedication in his work as a teacher.
The school went on running successfully. Soon, the number of students
began to increase and now Teacher Fox needed a helping hand. Panty
Horse, who was very clever and intelligent, was deputed to assist
Teacher Fox and the school ran smoothly.
The children studied in the school as long as they did not become
independent. At last the day came for the first batch to leave the
school. Sheru Lion was invited for the Passing Out Ceremony. In his
speech the King said________ " Ladies and Gentlemen and Children. It is
a great day for TOONY SCHOOL. It is all because of the Ladies of this
Jungle that we could open this school. We have done justice to our
young ones. I think they will now lead a very good life. All my thanks
to Sly Wly Fox without whose help it would not have been possible to
impart teaching to the children. He has taught so many things and has
changed the lives of our young ones. I also hope that our future
generations will avail this opportunity and become capable and good
citizens of our Jungle. I confer the title 'MASTER' to Teacher Fox.
Wish you all a very happy and prosperous future. With this I end my
speech."
There was a lot of clapping and the function ended with a happy note.
The school continued to run successfully under the guidance of the
'MASTER' for years to come.
Remember: A school is a temple of learning and the teacher the head.
Always obey and respect your teachers.
