It happened suddenly one hot summer,s day
The first panic attack
A deadly, scary but indescribable feeling
It was the culmination of years of strain
And it sneaked up and mugged me
Took my soul
Took my thoughts
Took me
Something died in me that day
Yet I was reborn
Bursting from the womb of stress and tension
Into a world of constant anxiety
Which no one can understand
Months and years of pills
Valium trips and
The psychiatrist,s chair
I am a new man
A quieter man, grateful
For the second chance
To love life
To love people
To know my family and true friends
I see the sun with a different eye
It fuels me like a battery
Smothering the black days
With golden better days
I thank God, or someone
In a strange way for
That panic attack;
