CORNFIELDS
By Indrani Ananda

In my secret heart, how I wish
We could lie
Out in the cornfields
Under the sky;
Follow the wind
As it sighs on the hill -
Follow the Love that
Is calling you still.
Am I a dream in my own
Truelove's mind -
The soul of the sky in
The earth's heart confined?
Alpha and Omega
First love and last;
Follow the future
That's chasing the past.
And is that sun locked in a pale
Atom's sky
A brief microcosm
So swift passing by?
Someone may tread on the
Face of that flower,
Uncaring for playthings
That fade in an hour.
I'll sing all my songs to the smile
Of the moon;
I'll tell all my heart to
The eye of the noon;
All of my soul I will
Give to my love,
Where the world meets with
The Heaven above.
Over the edge of this
War-riven world,
Dreams in their silence
Are broken and hurled;
Prisons are many, but
Gateways are few -
Unwrought is the key that
Would let me go through.
In my secret heart how I wish
We could lie
Out in the cornfields
Under the sky .....
Windsoul and worldsoul,
Your soul and mine,
Under the Heaven -
Forever in Time.
