A dark winters night

In the darkness of night a candle did sit,
It shone through the window that it softly had lit.
A snowflake was floating down through the air,
It danced and it twirled like it had not a care.
The candle did flicker in response to the dance,
Then the snowflake was gone without so much as a glance.
Then another flake fell from out of the sky,
Then another and another just floated on by.
The candle danced faster as the flakes fluttered past,
The flakes they fell quicker each more than the last.
As the flakes came down faster the bigger they got,
Then they settled down finally knowing they'd danced their lot.
On top of each other laid all on the ground,
The snowflakes sat gently making no sound.
The candle sat proudly in its bay window seat,
It stared at the dancers laid down in the street.
The dancers still floating down through the darkness,
Grabbed onto the light then grabbed onto their partners.
A swirling and whooshing occurred in the street,
As the partnered off snowflakes picked up the beat.
Each snowflake as different as the one gone before,
Its own shape and own moves and own route to the floor.
To the floor they all went as more came to dance,
Each taking the lime light so to not miss their chance.
The candle drew near to the end of its time,
but the snowflakes danced on all through the night.
From a distance the scene had been one of delight,
It was a pleasure to watch on that dark winters night.
