Nobody Cries for the Serial Killer

For the madman
Sentenced to the Death Row
Over fourteen chopped-drowned-beaten bodies.
The man who used to have his own home,
The man with the stable job rising in the office,
The man with a wife and two kids
And thirteen thousand dollars in the bank for each of them
To pay off their college education.
All pirated away from the one guy asked the simple favor
In depositing the paycheck
While the last minute post-soccer practice watch is made.
And the balance check the next day showed
A depleted savings account.
Years of childhood therapy and medication peel away
With breaking news
On the morning news report days later,
And the body dragged out of the fishing pond.
The man who destroyed his home in rage,
The man who quit his job to kill,
The man who had a wife and two kids
And thirteen knife wounds in the chest for each
To pay off their college education lost.
Nobody cries
When the man’s neck is broken.
