THE RABBIT AND THE THUNDERSTORM
Hungry and looking for food the small, brown, furry rabbit cautiously
left the safety of the forest. As she reached the edge of the treeline
she paused and checked each angle of view for signs of danger and
sniffed the hot, moist air for tell-tell signs of enemies about.
The old oak tree she sat under was heavy laden with leaves providing
amble shade from the blistering sun above. Just ahead of the treelines
was a bountiful corn field that would supply her with more than she
required. Anticipating a feast of delight, she slowly emerged from the
woods and made her way across the meadow to the corn. The sunlight was
blinding after travling through the thick, dense and dark forest.
As she scanned the sky, she noticed a score of black bubbly clouds
coming swiftly from the west.
They proceeded to cover the sun quickly killing it's glaring light.
Soon though the sky was lit up by the white flash of lightning followed
by a crushing loud peal of thunder.
The thunder was so loud that it made her ears ring again and again,
like small door chimes resounding inside her head. The wind became a
hard, driving force bending the grass without mercy. Then the rain came
down in a tremendous rush. It felt cold and prickly on her fur.
The storm increased with a quickning intensity. She sprinted off
towards the safety of the trees from where she had departed. There she
would look for a makeshift shelter from the fierce storm. Dinner would
have to wait until Mother Nature's fury was finished
