Unbound

Fearful in wonder you gaze
At the numberless saints that perform
This Hymn that is sung not in faith
From a root that is visceral torn
And the quake of an oncoming storm.
Grounded in doctrine you thought
That certain was biblically sound
And the groans of the poorly informed
And the cries of the lost so profound
Cause a shudder in this spiritless house
Now awaken you passionate try
And awaken those sleepers that see
Only the evil in fire
The ones who are never redeemed
Who’ve rejected the five-point conceit.
Pin doubt to the wall of a cave
As the light seeps in through a cleft
Catch shadows in the dark that you hate
And in the time that calls dawn as bereft
Be revealed in the light you have left.
Lazarus’s smile is now wide
And the mirror’s new crack is a smile
The drag that washed in on the tide
Sin’s drag that shame fed on for miles
Seems to have weakened awhile.
Future and past now fade weak
In this sacred moment of now
And all that was broken and bleak
And all that was lived out of bounds
Is ablaze as new mercy astounds
And these dark deathless chains are unwound.
