Close Your Eyes

Close Your Eyes
Gray clouds float over the crimson and white lighthouse,
while the earth, a blue marble, spins past other planets.
It whisks by, bound by an invisible cosmic thread.
In the way it moves, close your eyes and hear the spring breeze.
Among the trees, capturing an unbroken flow.
Our ecosystem weighs the fresh water running downstream,
Where all connections meet.
The tropical rainforest is home to many species.
Oh, what beauty lies in the depths of the coral reef
A diverse, unique life form beyond the fading coastline.
Mountains, of mountains: jagged monuments of time,
outstretched, until they dissolve into the Sahara’s sun
scorched sands. In departure from view, the blistering heat.
Fades into the frozen pulses of the Arctic tundra, Alpine peaks.
And Antarctic sheets grip the land.
As glaciers sweep over the landscape in multicolored gray
Blue and white flowing downstream, a slow and serene release.
Meanwhile, the Everglades dance in a patient rhythm, a velvet
river of growing grass.
Mangrove guards the pine rockland, a living history we should
Cherish. Open your mind to this wild, endangered refuge
where nature speaks.
