SKIN DEEP
Some say that beauty is only 'skin deep'
And oh how that phrase makes me weep
'Cause if you're like me and not blessed with looks
And you spend your time with your head in your books
Just because you don't look like a Grecian god
All tanned golden brown with an athlete's bod
Don't feel depressed just hold your head high
Even if inside you feel you should cry
You might have a face only a mother could love
With a complexion compared to a blind welders glove
Or you could be just plain or a bit overweight
And your having a hard time attracting a mate
Just don't listen to those who are awful and mean
Suggesting you can't go out 'cause it's not Halloween
Tell them you've never visited the Black Lagoon
And you've never been known to howl at the moon
You're not bothered if you look like E.T in specs
You can take all the hurt from those with brass necks
By turning your cheek and ignoring the insults they hurl
You can always remind them even Quasimodo got a girl
But the moral of this story is to play the cards you are dealt
Because being of the facially challenged all these words are
heartfelt
