When I Am With You

The mild scent of your skin
In bed after or before
We make love
As my head rests momentarily
On your stomach
Naked except for that scent
Which is yours alone
Your muscles tense tighten
Opening imaginary doors
As the various juices work
Within me through
Honeycombed elemental zones
Until in repose your face
Holds a smile akin to mine
Our ambushed bodies
Laid bare along with our souls
A tell-tale signpost
Marking our passage to sleep
Where you come to me yet again
Speaking my name
Knowing my heart and soul
By touch and scent
No longer lost
When I am with you
As my head rests momentarily
On your chest
Mere inches above your heart
