Happy Place

A foreighner built a happy place
Where families could go with a case
Sleep in chalets nice and warm
And stay safe from the summer storm
The place he built was on a farm
Where no one could come to harm
It started with a group of men
I think the total was about ten
The place was a really fitting sight
Especially when it was lit at night
They built a building like a boat
And even the Germans thought it was afloat
It could be seen from miles away
And is still standing to this day
But as the time passes by
And all the staff have waved goodbye
No one remembers Middleton Towers
As it fades into declining hours
The place has many tales to tell
Of toil and sweat and love aswell
The staff that worked so very hard
To make the camp a holiday trump card
It is sad to see it falling apart
Just like an old broken down cart
It makes me cross and very sad
Because one of those original ten, was my dad
