The Monster Inside

It lurks down there, within us all,
No matter how tall or wide or small,
The capacity to scare, the demonic call.
It rises up at the snap of a nerve,
Your conversation takes a downward verve,
You can see the fear in the others eyes,
It feeds the monster, the monster inside.
For it cares not for the actions it causes,
You stutter, you stop, the air filled with pauses,
The other disappears, your thoughts wither away,
The monster retreats, it's work done for another day.
The moral of this, as if i need say,
is hold onto your anger, keep it at bay,
For as long as it lives, it will fester and thrive
and destroy your life, from the very inside.
