Empty Vessels

I wrapped myself around you
in a seaweed hold,
of perfect tessellation;
but you pushed me away
waving your hand airily
to diffuse my beer breath.
So I dressed and walked down to the harbour
trying to focus and follow straight lines;
I watched empty vessels bob on the water
wishing I could enter their Marie Celeste world
And we are dying here
two desolate oil platforms
sitting on the sea
on octopus legs
no longer nodding acquaintances
but useless and loose-limbed,
drunk from the punch,
a weight around each other’s necks
that might take us down together;
if Brent Spar had feelings
I’d know how it felt.

A nice little tale, empty
A nice little tale, empty vessels indeed.
"...if Brent Spar had feelings I’d know how it felt..."
This line reminds of the rigs.
