I tried to keep her quiet,
Stuffed her mouth with cotton wool
And folded her ears like envelopes
with masking tape

but she kept on asking me
where it was
we were heading,

the Chinese tin
on the mantle piece
served as a reminder to her cheek
that she needs to keep a lid on it.
