Death marches over me,
as easily as gravity holds us to this planet.
I accept its embrace like an old friend,
my body receives it like a lover.
I lie here exhausted and defeated,
knowing that I have given my last breath in your name.
We fought for the sacred land that is your body,
on the battlefield that is your heart and mind.
Death is the acceptable alternative,
because when it comes to you,
finishing second,
only makes me,
the first loser.
