Denied the ancient land

Listening to 'the gulf of araby'
a yawning gulf inside of me
an empty depressive state
longing to be filled with hate.

But I am luckier than those
who remembered clearly but chose
to forget what it was then and how
the old place is now

Invaded by alien races
with ugly voices and uglier faces
who later we found thought
it was a god-given right and sought

to subjugate the land of Ubar
for this they came from near and far
collecting troops from different colonies
thieves and killers to commit atrocities.

So I choose to remember what others won't
reading and learning what they don't
and the ending is not a happy one,
the battles were fought but not won.
