Is that him?
Sardined in the plane
Thigh to thigh with zaftig old ladies
I glance to my left
Heart stops.
Is that him?
He who I loved
And worshipped from afar
Five years, six ago?
With the same auburn hair
Bright blue eyes
Ruddy cheeks
Skinnier than I remember.
Is that him?
Husband rows back
A twist off of my ring
I nudge a bit closer
For confirmation.
Is that him?
Heart pounds quicker
Dreams of my past's future return
Of the life I had planned
If only he'd cared.
Then I see his gold ring,
And mine glints the same
Guilt slows my heart.
I would just say hello, how are you
But I need to know
Is that him? Isthathim?
Shall I just admire from afar
Like I did long ago
Would he even know me now?
I don't know what to do.
But ah! Nature calls?
He stands up and draws near
His face to me now
Pulse again quickens,
I blush, my head down
Then coyly I glance up
Ready to face the Prince Charming of Yore
It is not him.
