HAMMERED
Knuckles grate across my cheekbone,
My face is open, leaking heat,
A screaming geyser spewing pain
In snakes of crimson.
The next, batters my chest,
A squelching, cracking, slicing sound
Floods from my ribs,
A wave of empathy,
My breath boils and bubbles,
Erratic and effervescent.
I smile
As the third lands,
Moment detach from family,
Discreet they stand alone
As the pinpricks swirl
Lighters at a concert,
My gut ripples disobediently
As the floor and I are wed.
The swelling of my face
Seems distant,
The nostalgia of a lover's kiss.
Blows follow in frenzied order
Pushing me far from them
And further from myself.
I float on the deluge
Of endorphins.
Tomorrow
It'll hurt like hell.
Today
It heals like hurt.
