Plane Sickening

Plane Sickening
I hang my head in sorrow
As I watch the news today
And see the terrorist attacks
Against the USA
The suffering, the madness
The loss of life beyond belief
And the catalyst that's now amplified
All the hatred underneath
How can people do this
To their fellow man?
What could possibly justify
This unholy plan?
The planes that stuck the towers
The devastation in New York
Surely people could have worked it out
Why kill when you can talk?
The innocent, as always
Suffer for the few
The fanatics and the hypocrites
And the politicians too
And, the final, tragic irony
Is that this will probably lead
To retaliation and more deaths
For the revenge that we all need
An eye for an eye is what they say
And, to tell the truth, I feel the same
I feel anger and hatred too
To my unending shame
One day, I hope, we'll work it out
And peace will rule instead
Until that happens let's all pray
That we don't all end up dead!
