Betrayal

I so studiously didn't think about him
That he invaded my every waking moment
And played a role in every dream
His shadow followed my every footstep
And ever word ever spoken
Was him uttering
Her name.
As I so carefully banish him from my mind
I remember the soft gravel of my voice
Does he speak to her like that?
I think about his warm delicate touch
Does he unconsciously reach for her like that?
I replay those perfect whispered utterances
Has he captured her like that?
Time now moves so slowly
In a cosmic delicate sympathy
But whilst my world revolves so painstakingly
Around my frozen memories of him
I know that her world spins wildly
A blurred kaleidoscope of passion and love
I know her life is a vibrant reawakening
For that was once me
Ablaze in adoring Technicolor
Standing so closely next to him.
