Every picture tells a story
A thousand words to every inch
And yet there can be no emotion
A memoryless photograph.
The peeling edges and faded colour
Seem like they need a response,
A sense of pride or a glow of passion
But nothing still, and nothing comes.
Feelings lost and enveloped in time
Fighting for light and to be free once more
An inner turmoil never understood
And still irrepressible and pained.
This feeling and this confusion
Frowns upon events gone by
Happenings further back than memory
Replay, on show, for all to see.
Now as I look upon the photo
The tears well and virgin tears cry
For the innocent soul of a little lost child
Knows not the love in photogenic eyes.
