Adam in a Dream

I met Adam one night in a dream,
I looked intensely at his face and saw myself,
And I looked at his eyes and I saw you,
And you I saw in his lips and his teeth,
And you I saw in his global cheekbones,
And you I saw in his brow and forehead,
And you I saw in his perfect chin,
He had your shoulders and his was your neck,
His skin was the color of all and all within,
And when he smprimitive primitve smile,
I saw more of you and me in it,
And when he laughed his fore-fatherly laugh,
Our laughter came from his throat,
His hair was the hair of every man,
And when the sun's rays touched those strands,
The color of a thousand gems sparkled,
yellow hues, red hues, brown hues, and black,
I saw all this, all of us in this Adam,
But still couldn't find us totally,
Then from behind came Eve and I understood.
